More Plants Used For The Natural Treatment of Eczema

Last post we discussed plants that can be used in the treatment of eczema. We learned that Aloe Vera and Chamomile can be used as an effective natural treatment for eczema symptoms. Today I have included a few more plants that you may want to consider in treating this common skin condition.

Rosemary

We’ll start with Rosemary. Rosemary is a beneficial plant that can help with the treatment of eczema. For centuries Rosemary has been known for it’s cleansing and anti-oxidant abilities. The plant itself may not be as readily accessible as Aloe or Chamomile however you can purchase rosemary essential oils, topical creams, and bath soap at aromatherapy and natural bath and body products stores. It can help in your treatment of eczema by improving your blood circulation and reducing skin inflammation. To use as an essential oil you can add a few drops in your bath and soak yourself in it the smell alone will also relieve stress and invigorate you. As a soap or topical cream you can massage rosemary directly onto the area that is affected by eczema.

Walnut Tree Leaves

Though Walnut tree leaves have already been used for thousands of years because of their medicinal properties, many of us have overlooked it’s healing power. Walnut leaves have been a effective source in treating various skin disorders. Like all of the plants we have discussed thus far Walnut leaves have anti-inflammatory abilities. It also has anti-fungal and astringent properties making it a useful remedy for eczema, skin ulcers, scabs, and many other skin disorders. The tinctures made from the leaves can also be used to protect eczematous skin from infection. If you have access to walnut leaves you can create mixture to run on the eczema affected area. To do this cut 3 grams of dried walnut leaves into pieces. Add these dried leaves to 100mg of cold water. Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer for 15 mins. After it has cooled somewhat, apply the mixture directly to the affected area.

Turmeric

Finally another plant this is known as a treatment for eczema is Turmeric. This is not as commonly known as the other plants on the list however don’t let that worry you. Turmeric belongs to the ginger family and it used both for cooking and its medicinal purposes. If you’re an eczema sufferer who also eats curry then you may know it as that yellow substance that adds color to curry. The active substance in Turmeric called curcumin has a wide variety of therapeutic applications, mostly it’s anti-inflammatory effects. This active substance seems to work by lowering the body’s production of histamine and stimulates the production of cortisone. Turmeric can be either taken orally or applied topically. If taken orally it can be purchased at a natural vitamin store and taken in pill form at 500 mg daily dosage. Topically it can be applied to the affect eczema area as an oil, cream or ointment. Lastly you can mix the turmeric power with water and wash eczematous skin with it.

Natural eczema treatments are often overlooked, however if you take the time to find them they can be less expensive and maybe even work better than conventional medications prescribed by doctors these days.
