Which Eczema Soap Do You Use?

Having eczema is extremely difficult to live with. It’s a very common skin disease however when you have frequent outbreaks you have to monitor everything around your from the food you eat, the shampoo we use, the air with breath, and of course what we put on our skin. We have to be sure that we are treating our sensitive skin very delicately. With that being said it is usually difficult to find an eczema soap this is compatible with your dry, skin.

When you are considering an eczema soap there are some important ingredients you should consider. First you want to look for something that is fragrance free. I know we all love to smell good however unfortunately as an eczema sufferer a lot of these fragrances can irritate your sensitive skin. As you know just about anything irritates eczema so when it comes to fragrances, less is more.

Obviously eczema sufferers have dry skin so another thing you want in an eczema soap is a soap that is high in moisturizing abilities. One that will put back the moisture your skin so desperately needs. You basically need to make sure that not only is your soap high in moisture but that it is also fragrance free.

I know there are probably a few soaps that meet this criteria however the eczema soap that worked best for me was simply fragrance free dove. This eczema soap is so sensitive it can be used on an infant. Actually my dermatologist recommended it for my children as I’m sure most do. It worked really well and didn’t have the drying out feeling that soap normally leaves behind. The only thing that I missed was that baby fresh baby lotion smell that most new mother’s enjoy. Unfortunately we weren’t able to experience this due to the fact that It’s non-fragrant, but I would take that sacrifice any day.

Stay tuned for future post were I will tell you some natural eczema soap recipes that can help with dryness associated with eczema.

  1. As you say often the simpler the soap the better it is for your skin. Many soaps on the shelves contain chemicals etc. and therefore it is always best to go for a natural soap. Saponaqua (http://www.saponaqua.com) do a range of natural products that have received positive feedback for the way it treats eczema.

The soap in particular works very well and can be found on http://www.saponaqua.com/subcat/62/natural-therapy-bars.htm

    Give it a try sometime.
    Thanks
